HOUSE FEATURES

Features

Music - Sound system

You will probably want to set the party scene when you first arrive, after all the party doesn’t really start till there’s music, or Rob and Peter, but you probably don’t want them there with you. Sonos is tempermental so if you don't see all the speakers, that's normal. There is likely a PHD you can get at Sonos University that would allow you to understand the relationship it requires from your phones.

  • ZGMPS is using a Sonos system throughout the house.

  • Grab the Sonos 2 app from your favourite app store

  • Open the app and if you are on the ZGMPS wifi-network you may see all or some of the speakers if you are lucky.

    • Pool Room

    • Living Room

    • Living room 2 (left as you face the fireplace)

    • Family Room

    • Sonos Move

      • Sonos Move is the portable rechargeable speaker. you can take this out by the pool but please don’t get it wet and try to leave in the shade as much as possible.

      • The Sonos Move likes to be recharged after use, so please place back onto its charging station when you are done.

  • You can group the speakers so you have full house coverage, or you can have different music per speaker, your choice.

  • If you need a tutorial on SONOS this isn’t a bad vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dEjXvVleMA

  • If you are a music streaming service user you can link to the system from them by selecting an output channel. For example, if you are in spotify, once you are connected to sonos, you shopuld be able to select any of the output speakers from that app.

Hot water
  • We have had some issues with slow hot water, we believe it has something to do with a call button. as an example the Casita has a button in the bathroom that looks like a door bell, press this button if you are not getting hot water flow.

  • There is also a button under the main kitchen sink.Strangely, this also seems to control the hot water in the two smaller bedrooms behind it. So if you want a hot shower, press the call button under the kitchen sink. Obviously.

Misters
  • To turn on the misters on the outdoor patio, the nozzle is behind the outdoor kitchen on the back of the house.

Remotes

There are many remotes in the house that we have not fully deployed nor worked out what they control. There are remotes for the fans, TVs and blinds. Please don’t move remotes around, the next guest may get a little frustrated should things not work. (good use of our label maker here if anyone is bored)

Printer

Just in case you have to print something, there is a printer located in the laundry room that as long as you are connected to ZGMPS wireless, you can send stuff to this printer. You can also theoretically scan and make copies through it. If you figure it out, let us know.

Alexa

This is probably the easiest way to control the pool at the moment. Beside the fridge you will see an Alexa with some commands you can try out. You can also control the speakers this way too. This is temper mental so sometimes it doesn't always work.

Pool

The pool can also be controlled with an app called myAquaLife that can be accessed through the ipad. Note this app has changed in appearance over the years. It's roughly the same though.

  • Screen 1 above is the home screen.

  • Spa mode: turn on the bubbles in the hot tub

  • Spa heater: heat up the hot tub - this will take awhile (a few hours)

  • Pool heater: Heat up the rest of the pool. This will also take a number of hours depending on the weather.

  • IMPORTANT: do not try to heat the hot tub AND the pool at the same time. Do one, then the other.

  • Screen 2 is accessed by the equipment icon bottom left (shown above on the right)

  • Wtr feature: turn the fountain on and off

  • Pool light: turn the pool lights on and off

Garage
  • The garage has a remote which should be left for you on the kitchen counter

  • Please don’t leave it in your hire car

Blinds
  • Blinds are controlled with these remotes:

  • You can find them in the room that they control. Please leave them in the rooms you found them in. If they are dead there are chargers in most rooms in a white box marked somfy

Fans
  • Each ceiling fan has a remote in the room they are in.

Thermostat
  • Winter Mode

  • Need guidelines/instructions

  • Summer Mode

  • If you have the sliding doors open please turn off the A/C, while the A/C is efficient we would prefer not to try and cool the desert.

Fireplace
  • The switch is on the right hand side as you face the fireplace. switch this on and give it a couple of minutes to light.

Coffee Machine
  • This is a simple 20 step process but if you are patient, you may be about to have the best cup of coffee you’ve ever had in your life. Here’s the video. (PS we also have a simple coffee machine if you need it.

Iron and ironing board
  • Both in the laundry

  • Please empty the iron and put away after use

Batteries, manuals, cables etc
  • In the laundry; top left cupboard above the washing machine

Garburator
  • Do not throw in eggshells, coffee grounds and especially rice. Rice is kryptonite to garburators apparently.

Garbage/Recycling
  • Tuesday Friday for trash (black bin)

  • Friday for recycling (grey bin)
